Product Information

ARDROX 2204 is a blend of chlorinated solvents, surfactants, activators and corrosion inhibitors. It contains wax, which acts as a seal to reduce evaporation. The product is easily rinseable with water. ARDROX 2204 is intended to be used by immersion at ambient temperature.

ARDROX 2204 is designed for rapid removal of silicone and other bonding rubbers from metal components, for example compressor blades, which are often bonded in place in gas turbine engines. This product will also remove abradable rubber coatings which are often used in the compressor casings of such engines.

The following rubber coatings have been removed readily in ARDROX 2204:

Silcoset 101, 151 and 152 (ex. I.C.I. Limited) and RTV655A, TVS757A and TVS757B (three component rubbers ex. General Electric).

Method of use:

ARDROX 2204 is supplied ready to use.

The components to be stripped should be dry and preferably grease-free before immersion into ARDROX 2204. They should be immersed completely in the product until the coating has been fully softened or detached. An immersion time of ½ - 5 hours will be needed depending on the type and the thickness of the coating to be removed.

The components should then be rinsed thoroughly with water preferably using an air-water gun. After water rinsing it is recommended that components are completely immersed in an aqueous solution of ARDROX 6025 (10% by volume). This will ensure that any residues of ARDROX 2204 remaining on a component are neutralised. After immersion in the ARDROX 6025 solution, the components should be rinsed in hot water and dried. The pH of the ARDROX 6025 solution should be checked weekly and the solution changed when its pH is less than 9.

ARDROX 2204 is an acidic product and care must be taken to ensure that no water enters the bath. The product contains volatile solvents and to reduce evaporation losses the tank should be kept covered with a tight fitting lid.
