Turbine Engine Oils

What are turbine engine oils? Turbine engine oils have similar uses as piston engine oils, but have been adapted to work in the different engine format. They lubricate the moving parts to reduce friction and allow the engine to run smoothly. 

Like piston engine oils (PEOS), the straight mineral oils used on turbine engines had their issues. This led to the creation of synthetic turbine engine oils, which have additives to enhance certain properties. 

Straight mineral oils still perform better in certain areas, and therefore there is a wide range of products on offer. Properties include:

• Anti-corrosion
• Improved thermal stability
• Reduction in engine maintenance

These products also conform to a range of military specifications, including UK, French and Russian.
