Product Information

Ardrox 1873A is a concentrated liquid mixture of sequestrants and surfactants. It is mildly acidic. Ardrox 1873A has been formulated specifically to descale the chrome steels, stainless steels, nickel and cobalt alloys used in the manufacture of aircraft turbine engines.

During service these parts become covered with hard adherent oxide scale, which must be removed during overhaul periods to enable penetrant inspection processes to be carried out.

Approvals:

  • CFM International -CFM56 CPM ° CP 2395
  • GE Commercial Engines -SPM 70-80-04, Ref. C04-240
  • Pratt Whitney -SPM 70-12-00, SPMC 191
  • Rolls-Royce -OMat 1/152 1/153
  • SAE -ARP 1755 Rev. B (Conformance)
  • SNECMA -DMR 70-620 Rev. A
  • Turbomeca - TS 00540 Rev. L

Physical Chemical Properties:

  • Appearance - clear, pale yellow liquid
  • Density - g/ml -Approx. 1.12 at 20 °C / 68 °F
  • pH - 4.3

Application:

Ardrox 1873A is used diluted with water at a concentration of 20 % to 25 % by volume in water. The operating temperature is 80 °C ° 85 °C (176 °F ° 185 °F). Parts should be free from oil and carbonaceous deposits.

Effects on materials:

When Ardrox 1873A is used in the prescribed manner no significant corrosion will occur on ferritic stainless steels and nickel and cobalt heat resisting alloys. It also has no effect on pack aluminizing and little effect on chromium carbide plasma coatings. Ardrox 1873A is not suitable for use on carbon or low alloy steels.
